Indian music maestro A R Rahman has been given 2 Oscars for Best original song at the Academy Awards in Kodak theatre, Hollywood.
Rahman wooed the audience with ‘O Saya’ and ‘Jai Ho…’ the nominated songs from ‘Slumdog…’, as the nominees for Best Original Song were being announced. The awards took Slumdog’s tally to seven so far.
Before this, Danny Boyle, director of Slumdog Millionaire has won the Oscar award in the Best Director category. Boyle’s rags to riches story is based on the novel of Vikas Swaroop, an Indian diplomat.
Though, the movie is a British official entry but the actors and crew members worked in the movie are Indian only.
Hollywood’s stars turned out Sunday for the movie industry’s biggest night of the year, strolling into a glittering Oscar ceremony that aimed to lift the economic gloom hanging over the film industry.
