Sanjay Dutt may not have come out in the open and officially announced that he is running for the Lok Sabha elections. But all his close associates have. In fact Samajwadi Party's (the party he will be running the elections from) leader, Amar Singh, made this announcement last week.
Many believe that Sanjay's entry into politics has been Maanyata's ambition for very long. She feels that her husband should carry forward his late father's political ambitions – something that Priya Dutt is doing right now.
"That Maanyata and Priya don't speak to one another is a known fact and therefore Sanju's decision to run from the Samajwadi Party while Priya represent the Congress Party is another thing that will cause a further rift between the brother and sister. This is Maanyata's way of ensuring a lot of things – she gets to further her political ambitions as well as let Priya know that she has control over Sanjay and not Priya. In fact Sanjay's presence at the Leaders' Summit in Delhi a few months back was also Maanyata's plan," informs a close source.
In fact Priya Dutt had been kept out of Sanjay's decision to join politics or that Maanyata was having meetings with Amar Singh regularly. Priya had no clue about it and she never expected her brother to do something like this. Recently at a press conference, when asked about her brother's decision to join the Samajwadi Party, Priya reportedly told the media that she was thankful her "father wasn't alive to see this day."
"Priya is very upset with Sanjay's decision to join Amar Singh. She feels that Maanyata is ruining her brother's life for her own benefits. Many believe that Dutt may not get permission to run for elections and therefore she has already promoted her name. And in all likelihood it will be her who will stand – she has already got the Samajwadi party support. Priya knows that with Sanju's films, he will find it impossible to manage his politicial career as well. And Maanyata knows that. She herself wants to join politics and without Sanjay's backing she couldn't have gotten to Amar Singh," adds the source.
Whether Maanyata is pushing her own career is something that only time will tell. But certain actions of the star wife do show Maanyata's ambitions. While for the longest time she had stayed out of the limelight, she has recently been fronting marches after the 26/11 attacks. She has been sending out memorandums asking for actions and answers. She has also been accompanying him on various political and high society events and making the right contacts. She was recently seen by Dutt's side giving interviews where she openly claimed that if her husband didn't stand then she would definitely stand for the elections.
And while Sanjay Dutt has been busy wrapping up his films, she has been having meetings with Singh to determine her husband's campaign trail, the dates and what she can do to further his win.
