Slum-kids Millionaire!

Slumdog Millionaire may have swept all the Oscars but nothing is over yet. The makers are so happy with their win and the spirit of the children in the film that they have decided to donate Rs 3,34,80,000 to the kids.

The money will be used for healthcare and education purposes.

Anil Kapoor added enthusiastically that the film epitomized the spirit of the kids and that this was an added incentive to improve their lives.

Producer of Slumdog, Christian Colson added that the funds would enable a thousand little children to benefit from it.

The funds will go to an international organization, Plan, that will focus on healthcare, education, water and sanitation needs as well as protection for the young buds of the slums.

For director, Danny Boyle, the gesture was a manner of showing his gratitude to the city.

The makers have also established a Jai Ho trust which will look after the betterment of the Slumdog stars, Rubina Ali and Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail. It will ensure them education and a roof above their head.

The film was a rags to riches story based on Vikas swarup’s novel, Q & A. The film won eight Oscars.
