Kangana Ranaut: She was skinny, almost anorexic when she entered the Bollywood scene in 2006.But now she can be called curvy. In the first picture, even the nautical stripes don't add volume to her waif like frame but in the second picture, she fills out her striped dress much better and she is glowing with the affection that Adhyayan showers on her.

Kareena Kapoor: Kareena started getting into shape in fitness freak ex-beau Shahid's company. Her weight loss for Tashan was dramatic and she went from curvy to anorexic. Then, jab she fell in love with Saif, he was extremely concerned about her weight and lavished romantic dinners on her, urging her to put on weight and eat well. The result is for all to see. Kareena is getting her curves back. Her chest is almost flat, her waist is narrow and her frame is waif like in the first picture, but she appears heavier on the top with a broader waist in the second picture.

Sushmita Sen: Her men would change with the changing seasons but her weight remained constant and she maintained a slim, perfectly proportionate figure. Then when, current beau Mudassar Aziz entered her life, she piled on the pounds and how. It's all the glow of love. It seems she is so happy and content that she doesn't count calories anymore. What's more, she has quit smoking because of Mudassar which has caused her to gain weight. In the first picture, you can see how skinny her arms are and how slim her face is, but in the second picture, she is wearing dark colours and full sleeves to camouflage her bulging arms. Even her face is looking bigger and her smile is the widest and brightest in prospective husband Mudassar's company.

Andar Ki Baat #1: Priyanka, Shahid an item

Move over Kareena and Saif. There is a new couple in town! The latest buzz in the industry is the hook up between Priyanka Chopra and Shahid Kapoor. For those who are coming in late, the duo is working together in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminay. While Shahid has been single since the second half of 2007, Chopra split from Harman only last year.

“Priyanka and Shahid got on from day on Vishal’s set. In fact both of them have the same thinking on a lot of topics. Neither believes in talking about their personal lives. They stay away from the media other than at the time of their film’s release. And most of all in this busy world of Bollywood the two get to spend ample time together – not only on the sets but also at home,” says a source.

For many who may not know, Priyanka and Shahid stay in the same building in suburban Mumbai. Often the two were spotted going to work or coming back together. Both Priyanka and Shahid have often been seen together in his Mercedes.

“When they were initially filming in Pune last year for Kaminay, the two were inseparable. They would spend hours together in each other’s vans and cars. In fact they would go on drives together at the end of the day in the city once Vishal called it a day on the sets.”

“Once they returned to Mumbai, the friendship blossomed into love. Priyanka was going through a rough patch with Harman. He wasn’t comfortable with her growing friendship with Shahid but there wasn’t much he could do about it. Priyanka and he had officially split and as Shahid and Priyanka got closer, her visits to Harman’s home reduced. She is still friends with Harman and his family. Also both she and Harman are in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s next,” says the source.

Harman and Priyanka will be seen in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s What’s Your Rashee? next. The duo is currently filming for the movie but choose to keep their own counsel on the sets.

“When they were on the sets of Love Story 2050, they were inseparable. She would come to the sets hours before her call time to help him out. Now it’s all very polite… she is there but once her shot is done, they don’t really spend time together. In fact it’s been ages since she visited his home.”

“Last night Harman’s film Victory had its premiere. He had invited Priyanka for it and with rumours of their fall out doing the rounds, Priyanka didn’t want any controversy to arrive and so she made sure she attended the do. She is quite cross with Harman for going public with their split, but she let it be known to him over a phone call. She doesn’t believe in making things public,” adds the source.

Adnan Sami in double trouble

Pakistani national Adnan Sami is in trouble for two reasons. First, he does not have the required permission for a foreign national to purchase immovable property in Mumbai and second, his wife Sabah Galadari has filed a Police complaint that he allegedly abused and tried to throw her out of their apartment in Lokhandwala, Andheri.

The Central Government has ordered a nationwide survey of Pakistani nationals to get specific details about their business ventures, immovable property and frequency of visits to Pakistan. This survey has landed singer Adnan Sami in trouble as he does not have the required permissions to purchase immovable property in India.

Adnan Sami has purchased eight flats in Andheri between 2003 and 2005 violating the rules of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the finance ministry and the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). It has been prescribed by the Central Government that any foreign national has to obtain permission and a no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Reserve Bank of India before purchasing immovable property in India. The registrar of stamps and stamp superintendent has to make sure that a foreign national completes these formalities. Adnan Sami however has no such permissions and yet owns 8 flats.

Sami also took a loan to purchase these flats but neither the Bank officials nor the RBI officials checked his nationality details. The flat transactions were done without the written permission of the RBI.

On the domestic front, Sami's parents are currently staying with him as his father is undergoing treatment for pancreatic cancer at a suburban hospital. His wife Sabah Galadari doesn't like this. The couple had a fight on Thursday evening. Sabah had invited her Filipino friend Elina to stay with her. Sami asked her to tell her friend to move out as he needed the room for his parents. Sabah refused and the two fought over that. She called the police accusing Sami of hitting her, verbally abusing her and throwing her pout of the house but when they arrived she decided not to file a complaint. When the police asked her if he hit her and abused her, she just kept quiet. Then they were summoned to the police station, Sabah filed a non-cognizable complaint and the Police let Sami off with a warning.

Adnan Sami says, "I have gifted the house to her, why should I push her out? Was I being unreasonable if I asked her friend to move out of the guest room so that my ailing father could be shifted there? I owe my life to my parents as their eldest son, this is the least I could do for them."

He further adds, "I have never raised my hand on an ant. It is a false claim and the copy of the complaint with the police is enough proof about what I am saying. She said no when the cops asked her if I had hit her or abused her. I love my wife but my father needs me right now and he is my priority."

SRK: Someday I will get an Oscar too

Shah Rukh Khan who refused to play the host in Slumdog Millionaire is all praise for the movie and for Anil Kapoor - the man who eventually did the role he turned down.

“I have seen this movie and it is mashaalah. I hope it will win all the awards for which they have received nominations. I liked the script and the book too on which the film is based. I also saw reactions for the movie… in the US people are mad about this movie. The most important part of the movie is the sound - Rahman has done brilliant a job. Danny, Anil and Irrfan are the best and I am not saying this only because they are my good friends. I am proud of them. Some day I will also work in a movie made in India by Indian people and bring an Oscar for the country,” says King Kha.

When asked about controversies related to title of the movie’s name he says with a dimpled smile, ”Mera aur kutton ka toh pada purana rishta hai, aapko toh pata hai. Actually I do not think there is anything bad in keeping this title of the movie but then again it’s everyone’s perspective. But I believe you should not always think negative about anything. In fact you should try to look at the positive in everything… the title also has the word Millionaire. And I think no one should spoil anybody else’s success like this.”

But if he loved the film so much, does he now regret turning it down?

“No. I was the host of two shows in reality and Anil has done it so well. He deserves this appreciation. I don’t think I would have been able to do as brilliant job as him. So there are no regrets!” says SRK.

Does he consider the Oscars one of the most important awards?

“Of course woh koi raste pe pada hua awards nahi hai ki whenever we have time we will pick it up. It is one the biggest honours otherwise why have people like Bhanu (Athaiya) and others accepted it? Mujhe toh awards bahut acche lagte hai,” he says with a laugh.

While browsing through YouTube today, I came across an original audition video of Ashutosh Gowariker’s 2004 flick, Swades.

It was shot in 2003 with the lead actors Shah Rukh Khan and Gayatri Joshi.

Kareena Kapoor to receive an award from Erin Brockovich!

Bollywood’s eternal heartthrob Kareena Kapoor must surely be on cloud nine these days for reasons more than one.

If you thought that her film 3 Idiots - her dream-come-true film with Aamir Khan - tops her list, then, its time for you to rearrange the ‘toppings’!

Kareena will now be presented an award for her contribution to art and cinema in February, by none other than the world-renowned environmental activist, Erin Brockovich!

Erin Brockovich is an American legal clerk and environmental activist who - despite the lack of a formal law school education - was instrumental in constructing a case against the Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) of California in 1993.

One may also recollect that the Hollywood hottie Julia Roberts had played the title of ‘Erin‘ in the Hollywood flick Erin Brockovich, which fetched Julia an award for the Best Actress, no less!

Needless to say, life couldn’t have just been better for the Kareena girl!

Shah Rukh Khan to undergo shoulder surgery

Shah Rukh Khan is likely to undergo another surgery and this time it is for his shoulder. The actor tore his ligament on the sets of Dulha Mil Gaya in December last year.

The actor has already been operated upon for his back and knees in the past.

Khan has been taking physiotherapy sessions but had to leave for the shoot of My Name is Khan in LA, and as a result, the surgery got delayed for a month.

According to reports, the doctors have now advised him to undergo surgery at the earliest, as the actor’s injury has got aggravated.

Though he has finished the schedule of Karan Johar’s film, his home production Billu Barber is scheduled to release next month and reports suggest that SRK is very particular about his film’s promos, so the surgery might take a back seat again.

Khan has got his previous surgeries done in London but this time he could go for it in India.

Dev D's new trauma: Abhay's no salesman

Abhay Deol’s Dev D is all set for release next week. But the hatke actor says he finds it difficult to promote his films. In fact he says he hates doing it.

“Can I risk saying that the part of films I hate most, is promoting it? It's not about the ego, it's not about projecting an image, it's not about being lazy or anything else you might think. The truth is, I love making movies but I just don't have it in me to sell them. I am an actor not a salesman, but most people seem to think that the two are one and the same,” writes Abhay on his blog, “I find promoting extremely tiring. It basically means I have to answer the same questions (and there are usually three at the most) a 1000 times, in the span of 8 to 9 hours. It usually goes like this - What is the film about? How was it working with the director? and Are you having/had an affair with the actress?”

Deol goes on to add that the real interest of the reporter lies in wanting to know about the actor’s love life rather than his work. “While they have to ask the first two questions, they are most interested in the third one and the rest of the interview almost always focuses on that. With a scandalous headline to match! No wonder most people perceive actors to be sex-starved maniacs.”

“I'm in this business because I love it. Besides the fact that I was never good at anything else, I actually find satisfaction at the end of a long day at the office (which could be anywhere within the country or the globe). I love entertaining people and taking them away from reality for the few hours that a film lasts. I love making them dig deep within their conscience and making them perhaps re-evaluate their lives or even their values. Most of all, I like being in someone else's shoes. It helps me understand myself that much more,” he adds.

The actor says that it is quite tough for to deal with all the attention as he is fiercely private about his life. “We live in a world that is obsessed with celebrity and celebrity lifestyle. I am a very private person and cringe at attention but if I don't get recognized then that simply means no one is watching my work. So recognition is essential but what I find hard to deal with is obsession. Nothing makes me happier than someone coming up to me and saying, "we saw your film and loved it", and nothing makes me blush more than someone wanting to take my picture and my autograph and my phone number,” he says.

And for all his detractors, Deol has a simple message. “I'm so tempted to write about my journey within the industry. About facing prejudice more than the average person, of trying to keep my individuality in the face of an industry that only wants to mould you in the image of a "hero". Of trying to do films that everyone says, "won't work", or with directors that the producers and distributors will not support. But it won't serve any purpose because five films down, that has become my strength and people and critics have responded positively. There are those who say that I have it easy because I am the only one doing the kind of films I do. I'd like them to try and get to do what I have done. If I am reaping the benefits today, it is only because I have been through the worst.”

A R Rahman to collaborate with Pussycat Dolls!

The Pussycat Dolls, that vivacious all-girl American pop group that made men swoon and wonder with their raunchy song and video Don’t Cha, is apparently under our A R Rahman’s musical spell!

The Indian Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee, who’s got the world standing up and saying Jai Ho to his music in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire, is remixing the award-winning song for a single music video track by the Pussycat Dolls.

The original track features vocals by Sukhwinder Singh, Tanvi Shah and Mahalakshmi Iyer.

The Pussycat Dolls (made up of lead singer Nicole Scherzinger, Melody Thornton, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt, and Carmit Bachar) achieved worldwide success in 2005 with their album PCD and produced hits like Buttons and Stickwitu, the latter which earned the group a Grammy Award nomination.

Last year, they released their second studio album Doll Domination, which included the hits When I Grow Up and I Hate This Part.

Throughout their rise to fame, the group has been criticized for its overtly sexual image and explicit dance routines, but Rahman has apparently no issues working with them.

The track is being produced by American singer and record maker Polow da Don who has done albums with Will Smith, Fergie, Usher, Nelly, G-Unit and Mario.

A R Rahman has worked with U2, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen and Eminem in the past.
