Bigg Boss housemates pay respects to Goody

Jade Goody passed away on Saturday night. The reality star rose to fame in Britain with her appearance on Big Brother in 2002. However, it was in 2007, when she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother, that we got to know more about her in India. Jade was accused of racist bullying against Shilpa Shetty. The British star later apologised profusely publicly and in August 2008, she appeared on India’s Bigg Boss, welcomed by former foe Shilpa. But Goody had to leave abruptly, after just three days in the house, and return to the UK after finding out she had cervical cancer. In February 2009, she was told that her cancer was terminal.

WE asked her former Bigg Boss housemates to share their memories of Goody during the short time they spent with her.

Sambhavna Seth: When she left the house, I was the one who cried the most. She was very keen to learn dance and I used to teach her. She would laugh at herself all the time. I was the one to give her the name “Goody” and everyone followed. Even when she left, I caught crabs, trapped them in a glass, and named them Goody so that she would be remembered. I didn’t get the time to call her after coming out from the Bigg Boss house because I was busy with Dancing Queen.

Ashutosh Kaushik: Bigg Boss ke wahaan se Jade Goody ji ki ek photo utha laaya tha main apne ghar pe, uspe maine foolon ki maala chadhaa di hain toh iss tarah main unhe hamesha yaad karoonga. Iske alaava, mera unke saath khelna tooti footi English bolna jab wo Big Boss mein thi, wo sab miss karunga.

Rakhi Vijian: Although she was there in the house for just three days, some things still remind me of her. Whenever she had spicy Indian food, she used to turn completely red. She was very fond of Bollywood dancing and dressing up in Indian clothes. When she did this, she would just stand in front of the mirror and laugh at herself. What I’ll always remember is how she came on the show to change her image and apologise to the Indian audience for what she said on Celebrity Big Brother. That was a very sweet gesture.

Ketki Dave: She was there for a very short span of time, but I remember that she was very fond of Indian food. She loved methi ki sabzi, chappaties and dal. She was learning to speak Hindi and learnt how to eat food using her hands. The way she used to speak in Hindi was really funny because of her accent.
